Sixteen killed in Kabul car bomb blast

Six Italian soldiers and ten Afghanis were killed in the capital yesterday when a car bomb rammed into an Italian vehicle. Fifty civilians were injured in the third suicide bomb to hit Kabul in the last month.

The Washington Post writes,
"The blast, which could be heard across the city, left bodies strewn among market stalls and vehicles incinerated in the streets."

Italian Prime Minister Berlusconi has vowed to remain committed to the war, against the tide of popular opinion in Italy
