Representative Barbara Lee (D-CA) has introduced Resolution 3699 to prohibit military funding for any increase in troops. The bill has 21 co-sponsors, largely from the Congressional Progressive Caucus. But National Security Adviser Jim Jones has said Obama will not be swayed by politics.
Jones assured a war-starved public, "I can assure you that the president of the United States is not playing to any political base." Especially not the base that worked its ass off to get him elected and supports him on every domestic legislative issue he is trying to get passed in his first term.
