Tragedy in the air

Americans in Afghanistan suffered one of their deadliest weekends of the war when fourteen soldiers and civilians died in two separate helicopter crashes. The first helicopter, which crashed without explanation from the U.S military, resulted in the death of seven soldiers and three civilians, with numerous other injuries. The second accident involved two smaller helicopters crashing into each other, resulting in the death of four more American soldiers. A fifteen died this weekend from an IED explosion, and a sixteenth died from an insurgent attack. There will be more information in the coming days about these brave men and women.

  1. Oh, my gosh, 16 killed over the weekend. I think the number may get even worse because one of the news reports stated several were injured. Helicopter injuries are pretty rough.
A couple of years ago during the Bush Splurge in Iraq, we had a chinook shot down by a heat seeker missile. It was terrible because the DoD denied it and told everyone it was a mechanical failure. A day later, a you tube surfaced showing the missile going after the helicopter, then the thing began to list and slowly fell. It was horrible. I worry we may see something sinister like that again. Afghanistan is turning out the way Iraq did. For God's Sake, Obama does not need to listen to McChrystal.
I am so upset about this. Thanks for letting me rant.
